Safety

Here are some tips to help you have a safe, fun time at LFF.

Know Your Destination

Familiarise yourself with the event location, including entrances, exits, and nearby safe spaces.

Plan your transportation in advance, making sure you have a reliable way to get home or back to your hotel.

If you're driving, make sure your vehicle is in good condition & consider changing your footwear for the journey.

Install Safety Apps

Apple

The latest iOS17 now has a feature called “Check in” within Messages.

With Check In, your friend or family member is alerted when you reach your destination.

If you stop making progress, it checks in with you, and if you don’t respond, it shares helpful information with your friend, like the location, battery level and mobile service status of your iPhone.

Any information that is shared is end-to-end encrypted.

Apple & Android

Get the WalkSafe app

Free to download & offering a range of features to help people feel safe throughout the day and night.

Get the Peoplsafe app

Serving as a panic button, the Peoplesafe SOS App is an essential personal safety alarm for anyone who wants the reassurance of professional protection at LFF, on their commute or in their social lives

Use a Buddy System

Whenever possible, attend the event with a trusted friend or group of friends.

Look out for one another and establish a check-in system to ensure everyone's well-being throughout the night.

Set Up Emergency Contacts

Save important contact numbers in your phone, such as friends, family, and local authorities.

Consider setting up an emergency contact group on messaging apps for quick communication.

Charge Your Phone

Ensure your phone is fully charged before the event. Having a charged phone allows you to stay in touch with friends, access navigation apps, and make emergency calls.

Take Emergency Cash

Carry a small amount of emergency cash in case your electronic payment methods are unavailable or compromised.

Stay Aware

Stay aware of your surroundings at all times. Avoid distractions like excessive alcohol consumption or engrossing conversations that may prevent you from noticing potential risks.

Limit Alcohol Consumption

If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and within your personal limits.

Excessive alcohol consumption can impair judgment and make you more vulnerable to potential dangers.

Trust Your Instincts

If a situation feels uncomfortable or unsafe, trust your instincts and take necessary precautions to remove yourself from the situation.

Secure Your Belongings

Keep your belongings close and secure. Use bags with zippers or closures and avoid leaving valuables unattended.

Stay Mindful of Your Drinks

Keep an eye on your drinks at all times to prevent drink spiking. If you feel unwell or suspect your drink has been tampered with, seek help immediately

Stay in Well-Lit Areas

When moving around, stick to well-lit areas and avoid poorly lit or isolated spots

Use Reputable Transportation

If you're using public transport or ride shares, prioritise reputable and well-reviewed options. Share your location and ride details with a friend for an extra layer of safety.

Go With People You Trust

Only leave with people you know and trust. Avoid going to unknown locations or accepting invitations from strangers.

Drive Safely

Be careful not to drive if you're too tired.  If you feel yourself starting to drift off pull over somewhere safe & take a nap before continuing your journey. It should go without saying to be mindful of your alcohol consumption even if you're driving the next day.
